Tui
Na Foundations
Tui Na, or Chinese medical
massage, is an active and
invigorating style of bodywork that uses pressure on acupoints, range of
motion techniques, and structural realignment methods to treat a wide
variety of issues. Practiced in China for over 2,000 years, Tui Na increases
and balances the flow of Qi through the meridian system, facilitating the
body’s natural healing process.
This class will offer training
in Wind and Water Tui Na, which is known for its gentle, fun, and fluid style. It
incorporates 5-Element/Feng Shui theory into its movements and is designed
to be highly effective while also supporting the longevity of the
practitioner. Although this style will be taught as tablework, it can also
be offered on the floor.
The Tui Na Foundations class
offers the opportunity to learn
* Dao-Yin self-massage, Tai Qi, and Qi Gong exercises to
enhance the health of the practitioner and provide self-care exercises for
clients
* Range of motion and stretching techniques to free
joints, relax muscles, and increase circulation
* A complete protocol including both prone and supine
techniques that address all major areas of the body while balancing and
harmonizing the meridian energy pathways
Please note: As with other
forms of Asian acupressure bodywork, clients are fully clothed for sessions
and so it is best if students for this class wear loose, comfortable
clothing in which they can move easily.
When: Sunday, April 19, 2009
10AM - 5 PM
Cost: $75 if taking additional workshop; $95 as
stand-alone class

Visionary CranioSacral Work
Cranial 1
(C1): The Foundation Cranial Class
This
four-day Milne Institute class is
for bodyworkers,
chiropractors, acupuncturists, naturopaths, nurses, physicians,
and physical and occupational therapists. It is designed to introduce
analytical and intuitive visionary understanding of craniosacral
work, perhaps more appropriately described as Sacred Cranial,
since it approaches the head with such reverence. It is the High
Art of healing touch. This exquisitely sensitive, subtle and
careful work can be highly effective when properly applied; the
gentlest of approaches is often more powerful than the most
robust.
The class
emphasizes perceptual clarity, inner calm and right action,
which form the context for our study of cranial anatomy and
technique. We will cover the major cranial bones, using models,
slides and hands-on work with a partner to deepen our
understanding. Practical work is under the constant supervision
of the teacher and her assistants. The techniques presented for
each bone are brought together in a basic technique protocol
that health care practitioners may use as a basis with which to
introduce cranial work to their own practice
When:
Thursday,
April 23 through Sunday, April 26, 2009 , 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Registration Deadline:
